Week 13 - Daytime Talk TV
From the tame and elegant setting of Oprah to the wild and crazy brawls of Jerry Springer daytime talk TV has a little bit of everything. They've got make-overs, psychics, paternity suits and things you'd rather not know about but their ratings are through the roof!! Like them or hate them they're part of TV culture.
1. Do you watch daytime talk TV? If so, which shows do you watch? Do you prefer the calm shows like Oprah or the wilder side like Jerry Springer? There's a television always blaring in the room just outside my office, so I'm able to catch whatever is on when I pass through. Typically, it's cartoons, Fox News, Judge Joe Brown (he's a hoot), or City Confidential (I love Keith David's voice. I want him to read me a bedtime story ;) Jerry Springer's fun sometimes. I got a pretty big kick out of the midget KKK members - not politically correct, of course, but too damn silly not to laugh :)
2. Which daytime talk TV show would you like to be on? What would the topic be? Oh, I'd love to be on Oprah. I'd enjoy being part of her little book club inner circle. I'd also like to be on Dr. Phil's show talking about his weightloss program.
3. Is there a daytime talk TV show you miss that's no longer on the air? Is there someone you'd like to see get a daytime talk TV show? Well, the one I remember the most was the Michael Douglas Show. I still remember watching Sonny & Cher sing there. God, I'm old...
I also loved Phil Donahue because his shows tended to be a little raunchy sometimes. He was ahead of his time, no doubt about it.
~Bonus~ Before talk TV took over game shows ruled the airways during the day, which do you prefer? Or are you a soap opera fan? Game shows!! I love them. I want to be on one. I want to spin the wheel, solve the puzzle and see what's behind Door #2. I used to watch soaps when I was younger - All My Children, General Hospital, Young and the Restless. That was before they became totally idiotic lol.
